The students at our school are wonderful, hardworking, and always willing to try something new and challenging. We are part of a very large school system but our school is on the smaller side serving around 400 students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade.
Our school is a title one public school with a learning environment focused on the integration of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) designed to help students learn how to solve real-world problems.
Our students show persistence in all that they do and know that failure is just their first attempt in learning. They are always looking for ways to improve and grow.
My Project
These sensory materials will allow students to take charge of their learning and find what works best for them. Each child has different needs and these materials will help create the best learning environment for some of my students. Students need choices to help give them control of their day. I have seen first hand how choice can affect my students positive attitude and work ethic. They take ownership of their work and behavior. Currently my students have the flexibility to choose different seating options in our classroom. They always choose sitting on wobble stools, cushions, an ottoman, or the floor over a regular chair.
I am so excited to give them more options so they can find out what works best for their learning.
I have several students in mind who could benefit from these specific items and I just need your help to get them here! The pedal bikes, ball stands, and bouncy bands will allow my students with extra energy to stay active during lessons without disturbing others. The other materials are small fidget tools that students can use to keep their hands busy throughout the day.
