This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work with a wonderful group of students with a variety of special needs. Students are exposed to all curricular concepts, they just need support and, at times, a little more time. My students are proud of the progress they make and willingly help each other to succeed. They support each other both academically as well as emotionally. Several students are more successful if they can move about the classroom, sit in alternative seating or use computer accessories to complete assignments.

All students want to achieve to their highest ability, sometimes they just need a boost.

We have all needed help at some point in our lives and a small gesture can produce big results. Building confidence and a sense of accomplishment leads to continued growth.

My Project

My wish list is simple, but will enhance student achievement in big ways! My students have great ideas but have difficulty keeping up with their train of thought. The headphones with a mic will enable them to simply speak and their ideas will be written for them. It will then allow us to edit and modify their assignments.

Addressing the different modalities of learning leads to greater success.

Listening to books, passages or other audio opportunities enhances comprehension. My students are all below level readers which impacts their learning across all subject areas. If I can create a sense of accomplishment in one subject matter, it will lead to higher understanding in other subjects.
