My Project

We have 17 students in the preschool program. They range in age from 4-5 years old. Our school is a Title I school, and our budget has been drastically cut. If we want supplies we have to ask for donations or have fundraisers. Our parents help as much as they can, but the economy in our community is not at its best. The students in the preschool class are such a good group of kids! They are very curious and creative! They love learning, and they love to try new things. Most of them come five days a week for 7 hours a day. We have centers in our classroom, and we teach the students in small and large groups. We follow the NC Early Foundations Curriculum, as well as the NC Common Core Standards.

Many of our students have sensory-seeking behaviors that need specific materials that will meet their need for sensory input.

Kinetic sand bins, playdough, and fidgets are all materials that will provide these needed sensory experiences! Manipulating these materials allows for sensory feeding opportunities through touch. Such experiences help to calm and center some children so that they are better able to focus and engage in learning activities in the classroom.
