Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Creative, passionate, talented, and driven are just some of the adjectives that describe the students I support. They are eager to grow and progress after leaving high school. As a college and career coordinator, it is my role to support students grade 9-12 with their post-secondary planning. This is a culturally diverse urban school where many students are coming from an economically disadvantaged home. A high percentage of our students qualify for free/reduced lunch.

There is a lack of equality of opportunities for low-income students.

Unfortunately, data shows that there is still an achievement gap haunting low social class students. One of the contributing factors is the lack of resources and technology available to these students. I want to ensure we are providing these students with the tools, resources, and opportunities necessary to achieve their college and career goals.

My Project

We will be celebrating the Class of 2022 at our Annual Senior Signing Day! This event highlights and celebrates their post-high school plans. It is a great opportunity for the Seniors to get together with the community and School for a memorable event, especially during COVID-19.

These materials will help set the students up for success during their college journey.

Many of our students are going through financial hardships. However, this donation and event will allow many of them to take a moment to celebrate and distress. Our students deserve these materials. Our students deserve to be celebrated.
