This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am blessed to be given the opportunity to teach sweet first graders this year but now they are learning from home. I love teaching young children foundational skills that they will build on as they develop academically and emotionally, but now I need to get supplies In their parents hands so they can keep up with first grade content.

The majority of my students come from poverty and English is their second language, but through gracious donors from Donors Choose.org, I have been able to meet their needs—be it through classroom materials, healthy snacks or equipment for physical activity with your support!

My Project

My students love scary stories so being able to send each one of them the classic book, In a Dark, Dark, Room as well as the CD they will stay engaged in reading while having the help from the CD since English is mostly their second language. Also sending a book about animals and landmarks will help keep them curious until we meet in person again. I send them a few flash cards already but with your help books are better! Most of my students don’t have devices so they need printed resources. Thank you!
