I teach an eager group of 3rd and 4th graders in our learning community. We value traits and practices that emphasize persistence and motivation. We have found multiple ways to engage our learners through game-based learning and inquiry-based approaches. Our learners love to explore and solve problems.
Our classroom is a lively ecosystem of multi-age learners of math and science.
They enjoy immersing themselves into their topics of choice and becoming CONTENT EXPERTS. I am always amazed by the amount and depth of information my students are able to dig when doing inquiry-based projects. They are able to cover so much more than what I can normally cover individually.
Curiosity is such a powerful tool in the classroom. I have proven this in the past and I believe that by sending me to this professional development workshop in Charlotte, NC, I will be able to maximize the use of this tool present in every learner's heart. My students will benefit from this because I will be tapping into the things that capture their attention most. I believe that my students will exhibit increased performance when they are working on areas of their unlimited curiosity.
This workshop is focused on using curiosity across content areas, therefore I am certain that the knowledge I will gain from it will directly impact my students' motivation and performance in the class.
I am grateful for your help. I know my students are very thankful, too.
