I need to attend GYTO conference to learn engaging strategies!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My classroom is full of inquisitive, goal-setting, hard-working 2nd graders who love to learn. I teach in an urban district where there is chronic homelessness and a transient student population. I believe that every child deserves a high-quality education no matter where they live. Whether a student has been in my classroom all year or just a few weeks out of the school year, they participate in fun and engaging learning activities and they know that they are loved.
Every day, I try to provide my students with the tools they need in order to be successful, not only in the classroom but also in their lives.
I provide a calm and inviting classroom environment where my students participate daily in mindfulness activities. Students also have a calm down spot with a timer where they can go watch a breathing video and play with different fidget items to essentially come back to the classroom environment ready to learn. Some of my students come from very adverse experiences where trauma is involved. I facilitate engaging learning activities because our students deserve the best.
I will use what I learned to engage my students in fun hands-on learning experiences! What sets this conference apart from other education conferences is that the conference presenters are educators themselves using the resources in the field. I will specifically learn how to engage my students through classroom transformations and real-life learning experiences.
I will learn about providing high-quality learning experiences from the top educators in the country at the 2020 Get Your Teach On Conference.
The resources that GYTO provides to their educators can be taken directly into the classroom. I can't wait to learn more!
