Self Reflection Is a Humbling Process!

My students need binders, dividers, post-it notes, and colored paper to create and reflect on awesome portfolios.

My Students

My students learn at their own pace. They drive their instruction based on where they are, not where the teacher is teaching. My school is located next to a cow pasture, but we don't just stand around mooing. We are taking charge of our learning and growing by leaps and bounds. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”

My Project

Personalized learning takes education to a new level. Students agency is a must! Students have to know what they know and what they need to learn in order to grow. That is the biggest challenge.

Once students understand their strengths and weaknesses, they can set goals and create plans to meet them.

Maya Angelou once said, “Precious jewel, you glow, you shine, reflecting all the good things in the world. Just look at yourself.”

My students will use the binders and dividers to create portfolios. The colored paper, labels, and sticky notes will help students reflect on their goals and progress throughout the year. A child who is willing to look at not only their victories, but also their failures too, and reflect on how to do better next time, is well prepared for the world.
