My students need to see fitness as a lifetime process. The boys and girls enjoy MMA and boxing and this gear will allow us to work on some skills, have fun and get a great workout.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our high school is a small continuation school with a population of approximately 75-120 students. Our students are amazing young people who are working hard to fulfill their goals of becoming great citizens.

They come from all different ethnicities, socio economic status (most come from low income households), and backgrounds.

They share a strong desire to succeed. My desire is to show them that they are worthy of a quality fitness room where they can work their bodies and minds.

My Project

The continuation high school physical education students that I teach have made solid strides towards living a healthier lifestyle. We're looking at taking the next step in our journey towards lifetime fitness by instituting a unit on Self defense.

The purchase of some boxing gloves, boxing mitts, and a heavy bag will gives us the opportunity to learn some much needed self defense skills, get a tremendous workout, and have some fun.

I am confident that our students will learn some valuable mental and physical skills associated with self defense through the purchase of this equipment. Thank you for considering to support our project.
