This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our classroom is a fun, safe, and engaging space for students to learn. As teachers, we want the students to feel comfortable throughout the day for them to produce their best work. Our classroom has structure and routine, which we create so the students can know what to expect. We want to ensure every child in our room is in a safe and clean space.
Our school is a Title I school in Manhattan serving children grades Pre-K to 5th grade.
The student body is 97% of children of minority backgrounds, majority low-income, and a high population of ELLs/special education students. My class next year will be a 12:1:1 1st/2nd Bridge classroom of munchkins.
My Project
Next year I'll be teaching a 1st/2nd grade bridge class for the first time! My dream is to bring flex seating to the lower grades and give them the flexible options they will love.
My students next year will have a variety of sensory needs that flex seating is perfectly suited for.
They will be able to better focus and enjoy their day with more student choice on where they work best. Also, it will be an EXCITING and INVITING room for them to return to after this pandemic year.
Some students have been remote the whole year, and I want to make their transition back as happy as possible. :)
