Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

As educators, we understand that fostering a nurturing environment goes beyond traditional academic pursuits; it encompasses the holistic well-being of our students. Providing self-care items such as hygiene supplies, drinks, calming sensory materials equips students with essential coping mechanisms to navigate the challenges they may encounter academically, socially, and emotionally. By also providing things like flexible seating and blankets, students can tailor their needs and have the opportunity to be comfortable.

These resources not only offer moments of respite and relaxation but also empower students to develop self-awareness and emotional regulation skills, promoting a positive learning experience.

By incorporating self-care into our classroom environment, we aim to cultivate a supportive community where students feel valued, understood, and equipped to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
