Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a STEAM/Technology teacher to 750 students ranging from Kindergarten to 5th grade. They are an amazing group of diverse students; all of whom have their own unique qualities, talents, and strengths.
We are a Title I elementary school with a STEAM room that focuses on science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics.
For many of our students, their only exposure to modern technology is at school. I am seeking to help our students develop creativity, confidence, design thinking and teamwork by providing hands-on activities in Science Technology Engineering Art and Mathematics (STEAM). Many of our students are visual and kinesthetic learners - having opportunities to work with their hands and visualize concepts helps them to better grasp the things that they are learning in their classrooms.
My Project
Sitting behind a desk or table is a given in any classroom. For many students, it can be an almost impossible task to sit still and focus on their learning. I am a STEAM room teacher. I would like the STEAM room to have a variety of options that work best for their learning. This may be sitting at a table with colorful stools or sitting on the floor cushions at a lowered table.
I’m requesting flexible seating to help my students be successful and focus their attention on learning via exploration.
I am hoping you will help me achieve this goal for an amazing group of students who truly deserve the best. The items that I'm hoping to receive will be used on a daily basis. The multi-colored floor cushions would be a fantastic addition to our STEAM room. This would give my students the movement they need but still giving them the ability to focus on the task at hand. The colorful stools provide additional seating at another station The push vacuum will allow our SWAT team (Students Who Advance Technology) the ability to restore the STEAM ROOM back to new in order to open the next morning.
