My Project

Imagine you are an elementary student. You are given the choice of playing with one toy now or receiving your own toy if you wait. What would you do? Research has taught us that children who were able to delay playing with a toy to obtain the larger prize were more likely to do well in school.

Character traits help children to persist on challenging tasks, to effectively seek help when they need it and to be thoughtful in their actions.

In a world where academic skills are often viewed as the priority, character trait development may not always be at the forefront of most parents’ and teachers’ minds.

Character traits are only one component of social-emotional skills that are crucial for children to become successful both socially and academically.

Students should be SELebrated when they go over and beyond to make good decisions that reflect good character! Once a month, I SELebrate students in grades Prek-5 who are nominated by their teachers and peers for displaying good character. What better way to SELebrate them than to reward them with SEL incentives that they enjoy!
