Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These SEL/counseling materials are for middle school English Learner/Multilingual students in grades 6-8. Our ML/EL students need SEL support in a language they can understand. Often counselors don't have enough tools in Spanish to help them work with students. As a counselor supporting these students, I am eager to support their cultural acclimatization and to teach them coping skills with the necessary tools.

The materials they need are posters that have important information on mental health topics like breathing techniques, emotions, and coping skills and affirmation cards to use during counseling talks.

The books are bilingual books with topics on identity, immigration stories, and books about their countries which will help them use them to discuss topics that are important to them while they practice reading.

The goal of the project is to support the SEL and mental health of our EL/ML middle school students by promoting literacy.
