This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am requesting the opportunity to attend a professional development training to become certified in SEL and yoga to support my Title I school community.

Breathe For Change exists to enhance the health and well-being of educators, students, and entire communities.

In the 200-hour Wellness, SEL, and Yoga Teacher Training, educators learn to use mindfulness, yoga, and social-emotional learning as a vehicle for healing and social change in their classrooms and communities. The training is aligned to CASEL (Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning) standards in order to equip educators to integrate wellness and SEL practices directly into their teaching.

Through this comprehensive training, I will have become equipped to teach inclusive and trauma-informed yoga classes to adults and young people, as well as design and facilitate wellness and social-emotional learning practices, workshops and professional development programs for schools, districts, and organizations.

Upon completion of this training, I will receive the B4C Social-Emotional Learning Facilitator (SEL*F) Certification and 200-hour Yoga Teacher Certification (CYT-200), recognized by Yoga Alliance, the international yoga teacher certifying body.

My goal is to be able to support my students through SEL activities, particularly students with disabilities and those that require emotional support. This training will allow me to offer yoga sessions to help alleviate stressors from life inside and outside of school. Most importantly I will be able to teach our most vulnerable population of students healthy coping skills as well as self awareness and wellbeing.
