This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Because of the economic challenges in my children's lives, they have little access to something as creative and identifiable as the content of Storyworks. The subscription to such a rich resource will broaden their horizons and instill a love of reading.

I teach 56 fourth graders in an inner-city school.

Most of my students come from non-English speaking homes and face difficult challenges every day in their lives. For some, school is their only sanctuary. Reading can carry them to different places and different time periods and unlock doors that would otherwise be closed to them.

My Project

I am requesting 60 subscriptions to Scholastic Storyworks Common Core Reader to discover and hone their passion for reading. We will use these materials in center work, where the students will also have access to the online resources. They will be able to work on the skills that are taught every day in Common Core. The high interest articles and engaging activities will hopefully aid them in being successful not only in school but in life.

Without the donation of this resource, we will not have access to Scholastic Storyworks.

Students cannot afford to pay for individual subscriptions, and we have no other funds to purchase them.
