Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students work SO hard to do "school." Each of them is in a specialized program that helps them get the most out of their education, and I work to help teachers create the most supportive environment possible. They not only learn all kinds of academics, but also learn communication skills, social interactions, life skills, and independence skills. My students require a lot of specialized, individualized supports and materials to get the most out of school.

My Project

My students will use the laminator to create visuals that can be used all school year either to communicate with others or to make sense of their environment. We will create visual schedules, choice boards, and token boards for earning rewards and more. These tools will open up learning for students who struggle to "do school" the way some of their classmates do.

Some students will also be making icons that will be used to communicate with others, which they may not be able to do in any other way.

This can be life changing for children who have no other way to communicate with peers and adults.
