My Project

One of my favorite science units to teach is about senses. My fourth and fifth grade students are naturally interested in exploring human and animal senses. I never have enough books and activities to satisfy their curiosity about how people and animals gather information about the environment around them.

This project will provide books to extend our learning and materials for building a working model of a human eye!

The magnifying lenses and double-sided tape will help us build an eye and see how light creates a picture on the retina. Designing and using models is a key skill for young engineers. The books will be used for small groups of students to extend and reinforce what we've learned in the curriculum.
