My students need a television, DVD/VCR combo, and interviewing video to help prepare them for real live interviews. Employment posters and games instructing them how to have an effective employment interview.

I am instructor with a drop out prevention program, that targets students in grades 9 through 12. My class works with at risk youth to keep them in school and on track to a high school diploma. Because the school is located in the rural Mississippi Delta where the poverty level is extremely high, students aren't exposed to things their counterparts in other cities are. This class provides them with a foundation that will allow them to make a smooth transition from school to work or post secondary education by opening doors to new things and new possibilities.

The program in which I work is struggling with funding, so there is no excess money available for extra materials that is needed to support learning, so we are to rely on what the school district can provide for the students. Unfortunately there is a lack of funds to purchase resources for my students. My district have very little dollars and because I am not funded through them, there are even fewer dollars available to purchases items needed for my class.

A television, DVD/VCR combo, employment skills video, along with employment interview poster and board game would be a great asset to my students. It will provide them with a solid foundation that would prepare their entrance into the world of work. Conducting mock interviews are great, but to have a video depicting the correct way in which an interview is to be carried out along with appropriate dress is important. It will allow them the opportunity to prepare as they set out into the real world and began interviewing for different jobs.

With your help, we all can make a difference in the lives of these young people. Your assistance will ensure that my students will have job readiness skills as well as career preparation they so desperately need. All of them are not headed to college and need additional help becoming prepared for the work world. There's an old saying that says, "a child life is like a blank piece of paper, ready for you to leave your mark". It is my hope that through your donations you will leave a mark that will permanently be with my students as they began their journey into the world.
