My Students

My students are disciplinary students who have been sent to us for various serious code of conduct infractions. They are not bad kids, just kids who made a bad decision. All to often, many of them are return students who come back to us because we have a safe environment, small student to teacher ratio and they thrive there because we care about them.

My students are good kids who made a bad choice and who need teachers to believe in them.

Our staff does just that, "We believe you will achieve" is our motto.

As the discipline campus for our district, we have students from 2 high schools and 2 junior high schools. We are only 6 teachers who may see 150 or more students throughout one year. We teach the 4 core subject but also mentor over 50 different electives the district offer. Our budget is small, my average out of pocket is over $300 each year to that my students receive the support they need since they are not at their main campus. New equipment for us is equipment that was replaced at the main campuses and sent to us.

My Project

Discipline students are sent to our campus for anywhere from 45 days to 120 days because of a bad decision. During that time, they are not allowed by law to step foot on their campus. Any projects, i.e. posters, clay figures, collages, journalism, etc., cannot be sent back by the mail system of the district. We currently have an old Kodak digital camera to take pictures of their work or use.

Discipline students sent to our campus should have the same opportunity to succeed as if they were still at their campus, we are not the punishment phase, we are the recovery phase.

Digital art students and journalism students need a good camera to be competitive with students at their campus, to maintain their proficiency so that when they return to their campus, they are not behind, have use equipment that is the same as they would have used on their campus. Art students and create project and capture their creativity from various angle. Electives student can create short videos to present their project, really too many uses to list them all.
