My students come from various campuses. Our school is the Discipline Alternative campus for the district. Our budget is small and all too often, new equipment for us comes from campus who had equipment replaced where the old is still in good working condition and sent to us. Many of our students are economically disadvantaged, so I want to give the same tools that they would get at their campus. We have several military bases in the San Antonio area, and many students are from military families. I want them to not feel that they were sent here and then forgotten. I strive to prevent that from happening. I will scrounge, beg and borrow items needed by my students. This way they can compete on the same level as students at their campus so that when they return, they can merge back into their classroom without missing a beat.
