My Students
My students are at various levels and types of developmental disabilities. All of my students also have behavioral and mental health challenges. My school is 92% free and reduced lunch. Many of my students have experienced a great deal of trauma in their lives.
My students lack many of the positive life experiences and relationships, so vital to healthy emotional development. Many of my students live in out-of-home placements.
My Project
Students deserve and need access to their history and their culture’s impact on the world we live in today. Students who see themselves in literature will be more inspired to read—and to reach for their personal dreams and aspirations. When students see people who look like them telling their stories, it can inspire hope and motivation in students. Students need access to relevant and accurate literature. My students will benefit from access to literature that will promote interest in reading and inspiration for their futures. Please help my students reach for the stars!
