Mr. Cowan from Williamston SC is requesting instructional technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need the 360 VR cameras to help them to create their own visions of the world while applying new uses of technology in Geography via Google Earth and other applications.

Even though we have well over 60% of students in poverty, you could never tell by our test scores because of how hard our students work. Ours scores are competitive with scores around the state and many times our kids are a lot more successful.
They take all the "strikes" that may be against them and it is amazing to watch our kids turn them in to "home-runs" and "wins".
My job is to take their willingness to learn and teach them how to succeed and get a head start in competing in the 21st century.
My next step is getting them to create their own 360° VR tours, videos, and pictures rather than always watching others do it. That is why we need the 2 Vivitar 360° cameras. I want my classes to create tours of their school and their town. In Google Earth, the Street View stops at the street in front of the school. I have mentioned to them of taking it farther into our activity fields and the school for future freshmen. They can have something that they can look back on years in the future and learn another applicable skill in the process that can be used in the workplace for work-site tours and instructional videos.
I have inexpensive sets of 360° VR goggles that I have found on sale.
I was so excited when I learned how fascinated my kids were with 360° virtual reality. Even though many love the games, I was surprised at how many had never seen it at all. It was then my job to devise a plan to use it as a tool in learning, without them figuring out what I was doing. Tricking them into wanting to learn more can be fun for a teacher. When they were creating virtual tours in Google Earth Tour Builder, I had the most completions that I have ever had on a project.
