My Project

Our Deaf and Hard of Hearing students only see themselves reflected in others when they are at school. These students use various methods of communication including ASL, speechreading, listening using various types of assistive technology such as Cochlear Implants, Bone Conduction Hearing Aids, Behind the Ear Hearing Aids,... They see little of their Deaf/Hard of Hearing selves reflected in their homes, in the community or in the school outside our classroom.

I want to fill our classroom with books that reflect their life experiences.

They can share these books with their families. Representation matters and these children, and their families, need to see that they are not alone.
