My Students

The students at our school are creative, inquisitive, and take initiative! They love reading, writing, and the arts. Our students will be part of a sewing club to promote self-sufficiency and craft skills.

Every day, our students come to school with a commitment to education and skills for life.

They work hard, and go above and beyond during student-led activities.

Since self-sufficiency is valued at our school, the kids value resourcefulness. Our students are looking forward to being part of a club which will further help them become resourceful and self-motivated learners.

My Project

The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students will be used to teach them basic sewing and craft skills. The ornament sewing kit and cross-stitch kit will be used to teach our students basic sewing skills. The felt fabrics, needles, buttons, and threads will be used to create stuffed animals. We will also teach students how to sew a button onto material. Basic sewing skills can be implemented to the daily lives of our students. Over time, sewing is a life skill which can help one save money, and salvage sentimental pieces. Since it is also a craft skill, sewing promotes creativity and self-sufficiency, thus promoting self-confidence. With these projects, students will earn self-confidence by the end-result of a product that they created!

Our classroom was affected by Hurricane Harvey.
