See It, Hold It, Learn It!

My students need three Learning Resource sorting kits: 1 to 10 Counting Cans, Rainbow Sorting Crayons and a Farmers Market Sorting Color Set.

My Students

See It, Hold It, Learn It! That's how my students learn best! With your help we will have three new hands-on learning kits and my students will have the manipulatives they need for successful, hands-on learning opportunities.

I am a first year special education teacher working in an inner city school district.

My school is a Title I school with approximately 1,100 students in PK-8th grade. I teach eight students with Autism in a self-contained classroom, grades 4-7. My students have a wide range of abilities academically, socially, and communicatively. I have three students who are nonverbal, communicating with pictures and/or speech generating devices.

My Project

Despite the wide range of abilities that my students have, they have one thing in common... they all learn best with hands-on manipulatives. I am requesting three different sorting sets to enhance learning for my students. The 1 to 10 Counting Cans will help my students build their numeracy skills with the opportunity to sort manipulatives according to numbers and their values. The Rainbow Sorting Crayons will support the acquisition of many skills to include vocabulary for object names, colors and function. The Sorting Colors Farmers Market will also reinforce vocabulary skills for food names and colors.

These sorting kits will give my students the hands-on opportunities they need to acquire new skills.

I know that with these materials my students will be able to See It, Hold It, and Learn It thanks to you!
