Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am partnering with 26 sweet souls in my second year of teaching. My scholars are curious, caring, driven youngsters who are eager to learn. As an International Baccalaureate school, we strive to foster young minds that are open-minded, principled, and risk takers.
My scholars deserve access to a learning environment that encourages engaging opportunities that support diverse learners.
Our goal is to develop college-bound scholars who value education and understand their ability to make effective change. Our classroom celebrates collaboration and celebration of our strengths and unique attributes.
My Project
I am SO excited to incorporate hands-on activities for my scholars across all disciplines. Our "Botley" coding robot will allow my scholars the opportunity to practice/learn about the basics of coding, exercise their spatial skills and understanding, and leverage higher-thinking problem-solving skills. Furthermore, the supplies in this project will allow my scholars to manipulate and construct various shapes and structures. The Taomics magnetic building setting, and Dive Into Shapes! are perfect tools that will give my scholars hands-on experiences to create and explore. I am really excited to witness my scholars navigate the STEM Builder Series - Build an Animal. These activities will help my kiddos gain a deeper understanding on how certain objects are classified and used to build larger objects.
Additionally, I am creating a STEM Stories area for my classroom.
Scholars will have the opportunity to physically build the setting of their story, including their characters. They will use the click builders, Nature Tube pets, and block careers community set to set the stage of their story. This will help to inspire creativity and encourage independence in developing story writing. This station can be used across all genres of writing, deeply increasing engagement and a love for the writing process.
I am so thrilled to partner with you to help bring higher levels of excitement, engagement, and opportunity to my scholars.
