My Students
My students are fourth-graders who attend a K-5 elementary school in the city. Our students face challenges that many can't imagine, but they don't allow their circumstances to define them and neither do I! My reading classes are full of students from various backgrounds, including many who are learning English as a Second Language. I love how they come in each day sharing a part of their world with me. Being able to be a positive role model in their lives has been the most rewarding part of teaching.
My Project
As we enter the second semester students need a little extra encouragement and a whole lot of incentives to complete tasks. The candy will be used as an incentive for completing assignments and staying on task. It will also be used as a reward for doing their best and actively participating in classroom discussions. The pop-its will be used as a way to reward students for staying focused. They will also be used to help students during stressful times during the day, like when taking an assessment. Our books will be used to add to our library for free reading time.
Providing a positive incentive is sure to make our second semester a success.
