Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are in a dual language program where their language arts is fully emersed Spanish. We are learning to reading for longer periods of time and this become quite boring whenever we have small books. We want books that have characters we can relate to and especially that look like we do!
It is important and essential for students to find books that reflect their thoughts, emotions and even apperance in order to help them connect and relate to reading this enhance their understanding and enthusiasm for literature.
My Project
My super second graders are in desperate need of Spanish chapter books! We are learning to amp up our reading but have difficulty finding interest with small books.. were big kids now and would enjoy having the same options as chapter books in English. We need books where we have characters to relate to and some that even look like us! Please help us get a good start on reading. Please help me make reading fun and enjoyable once again for kids. Help me bring new, exciting and longer books into our bilingual classroom. Help me bring diversity in our reading.
