Every day in our class is unique. Whether we are conducting a science experiment on erosion, setting up a class store to dive into the life of Mary Musgrove, or taking a field trip to the pumpkin patch for hands on learning. Technology would make this so much more fun!
Our school is the best school in our city, school district, and neighborhood.
Our school is unique in many ways. We are an active community driven school. Our school host festivals, meetings, and parades in our community almost monthly. Many of our students have attended our school since Pre-K. We are a school of families, we have had generations of families enter our doors and continue to send their kids and grandkids. Our school has been visited by Mrs. Michelle Kid in efforts to support our healthy kidÂs campaign. The biggest unspoken compliment that we are most flattered by, is the fact that parents, teachers, and city leaders CHOOSE to send their children to our school. That trust overwhelms us with pride. We love our school. With all of this being said, the majority of our students receive free and reduced lunch as our school is a Title I school. We are located 10 minutes east of downtown Atlanta.
As the teacher of my students, I feel it is my duty to expose my students to the technology that will change their world. If my students are able to receive an iPad mini and an ipad, we would be able to add hand held technology into our rotation. We share the 3 desktops that we currently have amongst 18 students. The donation of these items would allow more students to visit websites to do research, create presentations, take online assessments, podcast learning, provide the teacher with immediate data, and allow the students the opportunity to enjoy learning even more.
Funding this project will not only help improve the education of my students currently, but the use of technology in the 21st century will give the student lifelong skills.
The gift of technology will increase the pride a child has in themselves. Students will feel more in control and a bigger sense of pride because of their new found technological abilities that they otherwise may not get to learn. We have the most eager students that may not be able to otherwise afford any form of technology.
