This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from an impoverished neighborhood on the east side of Indianapolis, but that doesn't stop them from coming to class everyday smiling and ready to learn. Many of my students are provided free breakfast and lunch.
Working with low-income families from many diverse backgrounds challenges me to be a better educator and provide my students with the tools they need for a successful school year.
My students are an energetic and inquisitive group of second graders with a passion to learn.
My Project
My students need an easel, pencils, clipboards, and manipulatives. Manipulatives such as base ten blocks will provide students a hands on experience of developing conceptual understanding of basic number concepts.
Pencils are the one basic supply every classroom needs, especially mine.
My students lose their pencils, break their pencils on a daily basis. Some of my students did not even bring any pencils to school. So, it is my job to provide them with the tools necessary for success in my classroom.
Clipboards will be used for students to work in different areas of the room. They will keep their work secure and safe.
