My Project

My second grade students are so excited to write when their final draft is a typed piece of work. Adding a colorful illustration truly makes these eight-year-olds feel like accomplished writers/illustrators.

Second grade is the ideal age kids become excited about writing independently.

By allowing my students to print their final draft, and illustrate a picture to match their words, they feel like true “Published Authors”.

Printer ink is expensive and, as their teacher, a hard thing to provide in our classroom. Crayons are used daily and need to be replaced often. Having both of these supplies motivate writing and illustrating.

When my students are given the option to print their writing and create an illustration, they are independently motivated. "Publishing makes writing fun!
