My Students
My class is amazing! They are a hard working group of kiddos who come from blue collar families and they struggle to keep the basic necessities for their families. Most of my students are new to the English Language and are sponges with education. My students love to learn and are willing to try new things. These children are the hardest working group around.
Mrs. Huseman's High Flyers deserve the best that I can give them.
They will be successful in all that they strive for.
My Project
I am requesting a piece of technology called a Swivl. This device will allow me to film my students in various groups, download the video, then show students how they are reading allowed, presenting, and so much more. A focus of my instruction is fluency. We read aloud for a minute and time how many words we read in that minute. We focus on reading with expression and voice. Upon completion, we answer questions to check for comprehension. Additionally, my students work on memorizing math facts. Using the Swivl, we can film ourselves reciting facts and assess what needs to be worked on. This device will help my students to watch and listen to how they are reading in order to help themselves grow as learners.
When students watch themselves on the screen, they gain confidence and excitement for learning.
This device will allow me to instill that in my students and create lifelong learners.
