Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students are excited for school each and every day, looking forward to after school extracurricular activities such as our robotics club. However, as with any 6th grader, their attention spans leave something to be desired. They truly want to learn and give it their all; however, their environment requires them to share their attention between multiple things. Their neighborhood is next to government housing and has very little healthy food choices. They have very few entertainment options compared to students in low poverty areas.
My Project
Students come to school everyday and are required to sit in seats for the majority of their day. My hope and goal is to provide them with another seating option that allows for better engagement and focus.
I have purchased and used exercise balls before and they assist students with maintain focus for longer a duration.
With this in mind, our goal is to fully change out our seats for exercise balls this year.
Students will not only maintain focus longer, they will enjoy their classroom environment much better. This project looks to impact not just one years worth of students but many years to come.
