My students LOVE to wiggle! They are fantastic little children that truly enjoy learning and coming to school each day. We dance, we play, and we work hard!
At this point in the year, all my students are 5 years old and are really starting to understand what school is all about.
They all qualify for free breakfast, which is how we start our day together every morning. After that, we have Writer's Workshop. We are currently writing about problems we see in the world, such as bullying and littering, and proposing solutions to them. We continue our day with recess, math, lunch (also free to the students), and computers. Looking at the way these students have grown into a sweet, caring family over the past few months is incredible.
My Project
Although these children are hard workers, they are still only
5! They need a chance to get their wiggles out safely. The Wobble chair and ball chair will give my students an alternative place to sit, rather than their traditional four-legged chairs. These chairs will be at the back of the classroom with our circle table, which is the table students sometimes choose to work at instead of their desks.

Students will have the opportunity to wiggle while they work, which is exactly what some of them need. Rather than trying to force them to hold still, it will give them a chance to continue to learn while also moving. I believe that this will greatly help many of my young learners.
