As a teacher in a school district with a variety of students, my students are faced with regular challenges on a daily basis. Despite these many obstacles,they bring innovation and a drive to learn!
The real everyday struggles that my students face are magnified by limited access to individual resources.
Their drive to learn new things is astounding. Even my most challenging students become engaged in our Project Based Learning efforts throughout the year, and crave to explore the unknown.
My Project
My students need to have flexible seating options to give them the opportunity to have real collaborative experiences. Furniture is not something that can easily be changed in a school. As a result these students' learning environment does not always best match the needs of the students, and how we work in the real world.
My students need to be able to maximize their learning experiences by having the best learning environment to meet their needs!
Many of my students enjoy having a choice in where and how they collaborate! Students having access to seating choices will allow for students to perform at their best in their teams for project based learning. Even my students who struggle can become completely involved in the lesson when they are comfortable in their environment. I love that students can completely change their engagement with something as simple as changing how seating is provided!
My student picked stools for our first seating request because they wanted to recreate the feeling of being in a coffee shop where business people come together and collaborate! I was so excited to hear the reasoning and logic for their seating choice!
