Hello, I am a NYC kindergarten teacher. As a teacher, one of my concerns is providing a safe environment for my students. What I am in great need for my students are new tables and chairs. In my classroom, you will find the oldest set of tables. I am sure they are over 30 years old. The paint on the tables' legs is chipped and nearly gone as well as uneven. Also, the top portions on some of the tables are peeling off. The children are being subjected to splinters and cuts. I must tape the corners in order to prevent any accidents. However, trying to keep the tape on the table is another task because the children are always picking at the tape, which exposes the broken wood. As much as I ask school administration yearly about the new furniture they always claim it's just not in the budget. A donation of early childhood tables would be such a wonderful contribution for the students. I try my best to give them an environment that is warm and inviting. This is difficult when the majority of the students' time is spent at tables, which take up the bulk of the classroom space. I want my students to have a place that I consider their home away from home to be safe and pleasing. These tables would edify the classroom and the students' learning experience. Thank You for considering this proposal.
