Seating for Success

Help me give my students Cando Ball Chairs, Beanbag chairs, and Neorok stools which are flexible seating options that help them focus and continue to grow as learners in an environment that meets their needs.

My Students

Our elementary school sits in an inner city district and is a Title I school. 100% of students receive free breakfast and lunch. My students face challenges every day, in and out of the classroom.

I have a group of diverse learners that come in and out of my classroom daily for instruction.

I am a special education teacher for grades 2 through 5. My students have a wide variety of academic needs and motivation levels, they may come in on different levels but we are all growing and learning together.

My Project

Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During specialized instruction in the resource room, students are able to sit/stand, put a chair backwards, whatever works for them to optimize their learning session. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating.

Giving them more seating options would allow them to be more successful.

The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The Neorok stools and Cando ball chairs will allow students some movement in order to stay focused. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. They can also be used as an alternative chair if needed! The beanbag chairs will allow for additional comfortable floor seating options. They are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom.

I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
