We are using them throughout the school day to create a more comfortable, flexible, and student-centered learning environment. Students are able to choose spaces that help them feel comfortable and focused while they read, write, work with partners, and participate in small-group activities.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new materials, they were incredibly excited! They immediately wanted to try everything and were so happy to see that their classroom was becoming a space designed with their needs in mind. It was wonderful to see their smiles and excitement, and even more meaningful to see how quickly they began using the resources responsibly.\r\n\r\nRight now, we are working on building strong reading and writing skills while also encouraging students to share their thinking and learn from one another. Every student who has come into my room has been so excited for these tools and has commented about how much they love having them in here. They've also been absolutely loving having the stretchy bands, Needo cubes, and the sound tubes to help them stay focused or for them to take a sensory break. \r\n\r\nOur special needs students who I was most excited to get these items for have been noticeably calmer and have really enjoyed using the fidgets and looking at the lights.
