This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My second grade classroom is made up of wonderful, talented students.

Some of my students come from bilingual households and share their culture with us every day in the classroom.

All my students receive free breakfast and lunch due to their socioeconomic status.

My students needs are very diverse and I would like to reach them in any way possible. I believe that giving them time in a daily listening center will help to increase their reading and listening skills.

Research shows that whether you are low-income or not, mindset is a bigger predictor of success than academic skills, and how students gain great academic skills and persevere in the face of challenges.

My Project

I just had a project funded from donors choose. I asked for a listening center along with books and headphones. I am now hoping to get bean bag chairs for the students to sit on while in the listening center. I would also like a flash drive to download audio books onto and save for my class. Having a designated listening center with specific seating will really encourage the students to go.to.this center daily and enjoy their time. I would like my classroom to be a comfortable safe place for my students and I know these bean bag chairs will aid in this.
