This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach a diverse group of 75 students in a small, rural community. We have 37 girls and 38 boys from all walks of life in our room. My students are some of the sweetest, smartest children I have ever met.
My 4th grade students need to be actively engaged for all content areas.
They are hard workers and want to learn. They enjoy STEM activities, online technology, and playing educational games. Not only do they strive to do their best, they always try to encourage one another as well.
My Project
I have slowly been replacing students' bulky, old desks with tables and chairs. One of my groups has a table and chairs, but the chairs are too small for the children and the backs are starting to loosen up. My students deserve better and I want them to have it.
The table and chairs we are requesting for our classroom will allow us to get rid of all our current seating that is not meeting our needs.
These materials will allow my students to be comfortable while they are learning. It will also increase engagement and decrease behavior issues related to people moving desks.
