My Students

The "Barrett Squad" (named by my kids) is a group of 10 - 11-year-olds from a variety of backgrounds. They are a fun group with lots of different interests that they would love to share with you, whether you ask or not.

The diverse backgrounds of my kids, from students who recently moved from Spain to swimmers, animal lover, karate gurus, tennis champs, fort builders, true leaders, and social crusaders, makes class time always fun and always interesting!

I feel so lucky to be able to spend my days with this amazing group of kids and am excited to see what they create, share, learn, and how they grow this year.

My Project

My students are individuals and, like all of us, know what they like and what they don't. Some LOVE being able to sit on the floor to work and learn. Some do not. These materials give them the option of choice and voice in regards to how they learn best.

The seats and lap desks in this project will allow students' individual needs to be met, while also helping them to stay focused and engaged in the classroom workshop learning model.

An upright engaged body allows for attention and focus during instruction. Sitting on the floor with friends allows for partners and small groups to have meaningful discussions about reading, writing, math, and a myriad of other topics, while looking each other in the eye.
