Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students at my school are hard working, compassionate, and creative. As English language learners, my students face many challenges but always strive to do their best.

They come to school each day eager to learn and with a smile on their face.

Many of my students' parents are migrant workers that do their best to provide for their children. It can be difficult for them but they seem to adapt and are extremely independent. I am so proud of my students!

My Project

Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. Currently my students may choose to sit or lay on the floor with clipboards as well as the traditional seating at a table. When students are comfortable and have some movement, they learn better. I have noticed when students have the flexibility to move, the are more engaged in learning. They are more motivated and collaborate better with their classmates.

My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work.

The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The wobble stools will allow students to sit at a desk but still allow some movement. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. The Gaiam balance ball will also allow movement as well as helping with their posture and being able to stretch if needed.

I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
