I teach first grade at a Title I school in a high poverty area. Many of my students are at an economic disadvantage. School is often a safe place for them, and they look forward to coming daily. They are always so eager and excited to learn new things. My first grade students use a variety of tools to help them learn. These tools include things such as scissors, glue, crayons, markers, pencils, dry erase boards and journals. Having all of these tools right there at their seats would maximize instructional time and eliminate distractions in the classroom. Chair pockets would allow my students to keep their supplies organized and stored right at their table seats. Students could also keep a library book in their chair pockets so that they would have something meaningful and engaging to do when and if they completed their work early.
In our first grade classroom, we have very limited storage space. Our students need a place to store their supplies so that they can be readily available throughout the day. Seat sacks are the perfect solution to our storage problem. I have used them in the past, and they are always a huge success. Everything that they need is right at their fingertips stored in the sack on the back of their chair. The seat sacks are large enough to store all of their supplies needed throughout the day. This will help maximize our instructional time since all supplies will be on hand and ready to use.
