My students need a place to store their reading materials which will allow them to easily access them and prevent them from being damaged or lost.

As a teacher, I am always looking for ways to make learning interesting and fun for my students. However, I have learned that it is equally important to provide the students with a well organized and structured classroom. Students tend function better when there is order and the expectations are clearly presented. They tend to experience less anxiety when they know what they need to do to be successful. I work hard to ensure that my students have a positive learning environment that will create lasting memories of their second grade school year.
I will meet my new class in five days.
As of right now, I only know their names but I can already tell you that they are going to do great things. These students are going to become more confident and intelligent individuals. They are going to look forward to coming to school to learn because I am going to make learning fun and applicable to the real world. They will definitely leave this school year with some terrific memories as well as new friends.
The purpose of this project is to obtain a classroom set of seat sacks for my students to store their reading materials. In the past, the students have stored their reading materials either inside their desks or inside a cardboard book box in a different location. I have found that there are several issues with these two storage methods. I would like to resolve these issues by providing my students with a convenient place to store their books.
In my experience, I have observed that books stored inside desks are commonly lost or damaged.
Not all students maintain a tidy desk and, as a result, often find it difficult to locate any items placed inside them. I would prefer the student spend their independent reading time reading rather than digging inside their desk searching for a misplaced book. Also, it is easier to damage a book stored inside of a desk because binders and other materials are constantly being shoved in and taken out. The seat sacks will provide the students with a clutter free place to store their reading materials.
Last school year, our school implemented a new curriculum that suggested each student have a book box to store their reading materials. Initially, the boxes were kept on the students' desks but once books were placed inside them they began to fall over which created a distraction. I resolved this issue by moving them to a table located in the classroom. This created a new problem by requiring the students to get out of their seat every time they wanted to read their books. The seat sacks will provide the students with a place to store their books that can easily be accessed from their own seats.
