Third grade is a tremendous year of change for children. Beyond letter grades and testing, students become more independent, develop stronger interests and friendships, and become more in tune with the values they hold close at heart. I am very fortunate to work with amazing groups of students year after year, seeing them through these 10 months of growth and change!
The students who enter my classroom arrive with a variety of interests, backgrounds, and dreams for the future.
I set high expectations for them, helping them to understand that we will work hard as learners, take risks, and make mistakes that we will be able to learn from. My kiddos will spend our year together growing academically, but more importantly, they will find the social and emotional support they need as they navigate their way.
The 2019-2020 school year will continue to be full of learning, adventure, and fun!
My Project
Each year I'm blessed with students who enjoy reading and I work to expose them to new authors and genres. This year is no different and we have enjoyed reading and discussing a variety of books together.
My students are voracious readers!
I am so impressed by the number of books they have also read independently this year! While many are still enjoying series I have on the shelves, like "Magic Tree House" or "Puppy Palace", I am constantly looking for new books to pique their interest and challenge them to read beyond their current level so they continue growing as readers. The books purchased through this project will do just that.
Based on the input of my students, I have carefully selected chapter book series that will help my students continue to fall in love with books. They are excited about the possibility of having these books in the classroom so they can engage with the characters and get lost in the fictitious worlds created by the authors.
