My Students

My classroom is a second home to twenty phenomenal young learners. Every day, they enter our classroom with big smiles, bountiful energy, and such enthusiasm! They are a fun-loving bunch, and I am thrilled to be their first grade teacher.

It brings me great joy to know that I have the opportunity to create a learning community where my energetic students can grow and thrive together.

My goal is to provide a warm and supportive environment where first graders can grow academically, socially and emotionally.

My Project

Technology is essential to the success of a modern classroom. Children are exposed to technology at such an early age, and it is a very effective tool for engaging young learners. However, screen time exposure has increased rapidly in recent years. My goal is to introduce new technological resources that will not increase screen time in my classroom.

By incorporating the use of CD players and a microphone in my classroom, I can ensure high levels of engagement and an increase in self confidence.

Students will use the CD players to listen to recorded stories as they read. I have access to 50+ stories on CD, however, my CD player is broken. By adding two CD players to my classroom, we will be able to use the recorded stories again, and students can build reading fluency as they work individually or with partners.

I hope to utilize the microphone to encourage students to share their written work with the class. This will enhance speaking skills, reading fluency, and self confidence among my students. By adding these different systems of technology to my classroom, I can appeal to the modern day student without adding to the hundreds of minutes of screen time they get each week.
