Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges every day, both in and out of the classroom. I adore my students unique backgrounds, cultures, skills/talents, likes/dislikes, and personalities. My students are in a smaller classroom setting where they receive modifications and accommodations to help them learn concepts.
My students struggle to understand concepts that might come easier to others.
This can become frustrating at times for them however, they never quit. They want to learn.
My students live in a low income/high poverty area. They face many challenges on a daily basis just to make it to school and by the time they get to school they have already faced more than many people have in a lifetime.
One thing that I can give my students is a chance to be successful in school. I feel helping them become positive about their education could change their lives. I believe all my students have the ability to learn or become anything they put their mind to.
My Project
My district has gone green and I think using Boogie Boards is a great way to help my students understand that we too can help save our environment. Not only will the Boogie Boards help the environment, they will make my students excited about practicing and learning math. No more scrap paper. We do use white boards however, they quickly loose the top layer and you can not erase anymore. Since the Boogie Boards are portable they are perfect for my students to take with them when doing coorperative learning, data walks or interactive learning. They come with a stylus for writing and with a push of a button they can erase their board.
This project will help my students stay engaged and focused on their learning.
They are really fun and easy to use. The Boogie Boards will save on so much paper, pencils and erasers. I will be able to use them for and assessment as well as checking for understanding on concepts. They will save time in the classroom because the Boogie Boards have everything they need in one because the board has a pen and eraser all in one. This is something my students will use everyday.
