Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Despite school closures I will still be providing science and garden-themed lessons to our fourth, fifth, and sixth-grade students! At a time when students need continuity to feel safe and secure, I will be reaching out remotely with engaging lessons that will include demonstrations, investigation ideas, and time for reflection.
Our students need time to be curious, creative, and thoughtful while learning from home, and will be able to do so during online science lessons in which they will develop hypotheses, watch an investigation demonstration, and reflect on the accuracy of their hypothesis and develop next steps.
In order to give my students the best remote science lab experience possible I need to purchase recording equipment that will allow me to record what can be seen in a microscope or a telescope!
My Project
The digital camera and phone-to-scope adapter I am asking for will support my students during distance learning and when we return to school by recording what we see through the microscope and nature scope lenses. I cannot always guarantee my students will see what I want them to when they look through the scopes and this equipment will ensure they see the most relevant views!
Students will be able to use this equipment to record what they see, and they can use the captured images to support their hypothesis or to deepen their inquiry.
These two valuable pieces of equipment will also help me support my students when they have clarifying questions about what they are seeing through the scope. I will be able to hone their view on the images that will best support their investigations and direct their inquiry in ways that will make discussions more focused and relevant.
