Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students all come from the poorest neighborhoods in the city of Boston. My third graders are the sweetest and hardest working children! They love to learn, read, and write. They make me proud every day!

My classroom is an ESL classroom, where all my students speak Spanish at home.

They are all new immigrants to the United States and many of them have had limited or interrupted schooling in their home countries. They enjoy coming to school each day to learn English and make friends.

My Project

Our school day is very long. The students are in class from 7:15 until 3:30, and many of our bus students do not arrive home until 5:00 pm. I chose lots of healthy snacks for my students to eat during the school day and to take with them on their long bus journey home. Research shows that children who have full stomachs are able to learn more during the day. Although our students receive free breakfast and lunch, many of them still quite hungry and need something to eat.

I am positive that your donation will provide my students with a supply of snacks and healthy treats that will enable them to succeed in school and become the best student possible.
